Despite the fact that there are many challenging applications, the division is not one to rest on its laurels. Such is the nature of hot applications, new demands and new enquiries are always emerging. For example, Promat has frequently been asked to provide protective barriers in areas where crude steel ingots and other cast products are cleaned and upgraded before further heat treatment. Protective shields are therefore expected to withstand a variety of rough conditions such as metal splashes, flying sparks and cyclic heat radiation, among other erosive factors. It is not uncommon to see new protective installations also placed in front of plain steel construction surrounding the workshop rea. In many instances, single steel sheets didn’t meet the customer’s protective demands and so the need for a better performing system ventually became apparent. After the professional technical specifications were checked with the customer and with Promat technicians, DURASTEEL
