Applications and product brochures

  • The main area of application for ceramic fibres is to be found in all thermal processes operating on a periodic basis. The iron and steel industry offers a wide range of possibilities in the field of heat treatment. The applications are similar in the ceramic industry (top hat furnaces, kiln cars). Ceramic fibre linings have provided  good service results in process and reformer furnaces as well as in thermal cracking reactors of the chemical industry.

    The aluminium industry uses fibres as insulating and separation materials during melting. Fibre products are successfully used in direct contact with the aluminium melt, e. g. in the form of crucibles, runners and tops for melting furnaces

    In the glass industry paper is used for the hot repair of  fused cast bricks in order to prevent thermal shock. Producers of household appliances use insulating materials without binder.

  • As high temperature seals, fibre materials are used for various purposes in several technical applications. (Promat products NEFALIT®).

  • There are several tried and tested construction principles for using and applying fibre materials for high temperature insulation. Besides full fibre linings, combinations with other insulating materials have beensuccessful. Preferred construction principles for the layered construction method exist with metallic or ceramic anchors and bonding modules made of boards and mats.

  • Self-supporting laboratory furnace linings are in use as well as preproduced large modules. Today, folded or piled modules with fixings on the cool side by racks or metallic anchors are preferred for installation in large industrial furnaces.
